Lynn and family, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around you and your family and comfort you through the sorrow. Bro. Gary was a wonderful pastor while I was growing up. Please find peace in knowing that we will all see him again.

Lynn, The loss we feel cannot begin to touch yours. Bro. Gary was the only pastor we ever really had. He had a way of preaching like no other. We have learned not to take one day for granted. I pray that all of you find peace and that everyday gets a little easier to manage. We are just foot steps away from any of you if you need anything. May God Bless you all!!! All our love...John, Becky, Tyler and Sydney

My Dear Brother-It seems as though I haven't been able to express my feelings these last ten days. As I sit here I have been reflecting on the last 19 years and how fast they have gone. All the many lessons in life I have learned from you and what great times. I have cherished them all. I know in my heart what you would say about God's plan but it is not easier nonetheless. I've loved and admired you from the start and I know this is not the end, I will see you again! Thank you for your friendship, thank you for the love and devotion you taught me over these years. I'll love Lynn and the boys for as long as God chooses to leave me here and I will stand side by side with your Mother, Brother and your Sister for the same. Thank you Jesus!

Hebrews 6:19 reads, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." Let the hope that we have through Christ comfort you during this time, and know that God always has a purpose, even through times of uncertainty. Be proud of the godly man you all had as a father, husband, and as a friend. We are so very sorry for your loss and will continue to pray for your family and church family.

Lynn, you and your family are in my prayers. It seems like such a short time since Gary was youth director at Union Ave in Wynne. I know that Gary is rejoicing in Heaven with our savior. As we are left here looking through a glass darkly some day God's plan will be revealed to us. We will then understand why God called Gary home so soon. I pray that you and your family will find comfort and peace during your time of grief.

I was informed today, Sunday, June 21, 2009 by my sister, Charlotte (Baker) Dole, that Gary Akers passed away recently. I am sorry to hear about this. I remember the last time I spoke to Gary prior to our graduation and him telling me that he was preparing to go to seminary to become a minister following graduation and I remember congratulating and wishing him well. He will be missed at our next reunion but not forgotten.

I was so very blessed to have Bro. Akers as an instructor at SEARK a few years back. The class that I was having to take was one I didn't want to take but knowing that he was a minister, I knew that he would teach that class the way it should be taught. That is an understatement - he was a fabulous teacher! I learned to respect him as an instructor and person as well. Now, I work in White Hall and I saw him in a local coffee shop on many occassions and was able to talk with him a bit. I wish I would have told him what an impression he made on me then and that has and will continue all of my life. To his wife and children, please know that all of us on the outside have been touched by this wonderful husband and dad of yours. May God wrap His loving arms around you and give you the comfort you need at this time.

Ive never met the family but the name Gary Akers will be forever etched in my memory. My grandfather was an alcoholic practically all of his life. He was in his 70's and never gave God a thought until Bro. Akers came to the nursing home in Wynne Arkansas and started ministering to him. He always told him, Im just not ready. He was a very hard man to reach but through the love of Jesus in Bro. Akers heart he slowly began to break this hard man. I am forever grateful when I heard one particular day my grandfather was anxiously awaiting Bro Akers visit. He told him, Sir, I want this Jesus you have been telling me about. A few weeks later, he left this world. Thank you Bro. Akers for giving to the Lord, He was life that was truly changed by the power of God's mercy. Im praying for his wife and family. Just one glimpse of him (Jesus) in glory, will the toils of life repay. When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be!!

Lynn, Josh, Caleb and Seth........ I am so very sorry that you are going through this tough time. Bro. Gary was a very delightful person, full of life. We all know that he is home with the Lord today. I can remember several of his sermons that he publicly made known that he was ready to go home to live with the Lord. Well he is there now.....safe in the arms of Jesus. I am thinking of you all every day. If there is anything that I can do to help you get through this, please share it with me. Remember the Bible says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." I hope that you will lean on Christ and let him carry you all the way through this. I love you all, very much. I am so happy that I know you all and Thank God that I had the opportunity to know Bro. Gary.

Gary and I went to high school and church together in Bryant. I'm proud to say I considered him a good friend, and he was always such a wonderful person to everyone he met. Always a gentleman, and had such a kind heart. We lost touch over the years, but I will always remember the good times we had at First Baptist in Bryant, as well as at school. My heart goes out to the family, but I know Gary is in heaven, singing with the angels.

Mrs. Lynn, Josh, Caleb, and Seth words can not describe how much we hurt for you right now! We love your family so much and will pray for strength during this terrible time. Bro. Gary was a special man & the impact he had on our lives will never be forgotten. Through every important milestone in our lives he has been there for us. He led us to a great church here that opened doors for us I would have never imagined. Even though our church is somewhere else now Central Baptist Church is still our "church home" because of Bro. Gary. I will forever be grateful for Bro Gary & the Godly example he has been to my family. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Lynn & family, We are all praying for you. Heaven is our only consolation. I know there was a party up in Heaven when Bro. Gary arrived. "Well done my good and faithful servant" was certainly heard by all. I know Jesus has a new "right-hand man". We will pray for you and your family's journey through life on this earth until Bro. Gary greets you in Heaven.

Bro.Gary will always hold such a special place in my heart. He was my pastor for many years and, though I vistited other churches, I always came back "home". No other pastor has ever had such a gift of projecting God's words right to my heart the way Bro.Gary did. I am comforted to think that he is up in heaven, at the throne of our Lord! He will never be forgotten. I will miss him so very much. To Mrs.Lynn, Josh and Laura, Caleb, and Seth: I just want you all to know how much I truly respect your husband and Dad. He was such an awesome man and soldier of Christ. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I love you all!

Lynn, Josh, Caleb and Seth: Laura and I were very saddened to hear of Brother Gary's passing. He was a tremendous man and will be greatly missed by this community! His love for his church, family, and sports will be forever remembered by me. Coaching all three of you boys and Lynn serving as our FCA mother for many years, I got to know Brother Gary very well. His FCA devotions that he did for WHJH football before ballgames were one of kind! We are praying for all of you during this difficult time. Coach Dupuy and Laura

We were so very shocked to hear about the loss of Pastor Gary. We had been visiting Central Baptist for several months now, and loved to hear Pastor Gary preach. He was such a sweet person, and never failed to speak to us. He made us feel like we were welcome there. We will really miss him. The Akers family will be in our prayers, along with everyone at Central Baptist. May God Bless you and give you strength during this difficult time. We pray that the Lord will give you a peace that passes ALL understanding. We love you!!

I have fond memories of Gary as a young man growing up in Bryant. He was a sweet, kind young man and one of a kind!! My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family and my prayer is that you can find comfort from our most gracious and loving God. May God put his arms of love around the family and give you the comfort and guidance that you need during the difficult days ahead. We don't always know why God chooses to call our loves ones home to be with Him, but we do know without a doubt that Gary is now in Heaven with our Lord and Savior. My thoughts and prayers for all of you. God Bless!!
