Sorry to be so tardy with this, But Sonny was a great man and musician. The memories I have of he and dad, well, the Lord has another addition to that great jazz band in heaven.

I have known Sonny for many years. He asked me to play with his band on several occasions while I was in PBHS and attending U of A. He was a good kind man who always was interested in what was happening in a person's life. He will be remembered by the many kids who danced to his music for many years. He loaned me his Big Band Book when I needed it for a Big Band I was in needed some extra charts. We copied some of them and continue to use them regularly. I think he would be glad to know that the Big Band sound is still alive and well in East Tennessee. My sympathy is extended to his family and loved ones. He always wanted to help out. We will miss him .

The Moravian Love Feast wouldn't have been a feast without Sonny and his musical friends. I did so love to hear his horn singing. I also loved to hear him sing in the choir. Mary, you and Sonny both made me feel right at home when we moved from Belair Pres. to Central. Thank you so much for your Christian love and friendship. I have thought of you often these last ten years while we make our church home here in Wynne. Brother Jim, a tenor sax man himself and Uncle Bud sure did think a lot of Sonny as so many others did. I send you wishes of wonderful memories, my Christian love and ask for God's peace to comfort you.

Mary, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. It was always so good to call and visit with you and Sonny who was more than a friend, more like a brother. I recall early on that my Mother would make Sonny and Donnie promise to look out for me while playing dances since I was younger. He will be missed.

I am truly heartbroken at the news of Sonny's passing. I am comforted only in the sure and certain knowledge that Heaven's Community Band has a new sax player.
